Honorable Haki S. Ammi
Afua "First Queen" Owens

Haki Shakur Ammi, Born in Baltimore , “ Tubman City ” MD. His parents are government workers. While being raised under the misconception of the American Dream i.e. to strive to get a good Government job, Haki attended Baltimore City Public Schools. Haki was the typical young black male in Baltimore . Experiencing the dysfunction and oppression of the Education, Social, Political, and Economic systems, Haki found himself troubled.

After an awakening Haki went on to complete High School in Baltimore Public Schools. Oppression by the police force caused Haki to embrace Hip Hop. The Conscious Rap music influenced Haki to read. The true awakening to the Black Man’s condition in America came when at age 18, Haki read “The Insane Nigger”. Although the system teaches one to rebel it became apparent that TRUE KNOWLEDGE would be the greatest weapon against forces that Haki did not understand.

Although limited in knowledge and what to do with his life Haki immediately joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to Norfolk , VA. While serving in the Navy Haki continued on his vigorous path of self development and enlightenment. While on active duty Haki reached out to the Black Nationalists and Pan Afrikanist communities in Norfolk , Newport News , Portsmouth and Hampton , VA Beach, VA. There he found many associates on Hampton University ’s Campus while attending many college events and visiting all of the local book stores in this area.

After five and one half years of serving the ORIGINAL OPPRESSOR, Haki managed to read over 100 books per year on a variety of topics. In 1998, it was time to return home to Baltimore and empower other Black people. Haki has been involved with several movements, operations, circles, meetings, conventions and conferences. If there was something happening in Baltimore , Haki was present, learning and studying. Much of his study time was completed at Everyone’s Place bookstore in Baltimore . After several experiences in Network Marketing and African American Business ventures, Haki continued to focus on self development, wealth building, black history, politics, economics, global issues, health etc.

Many have reckoned Haki to great Black leaders such as Amos Wilson, Steve Cokely, Reginald Lewis and Huey P. Newton. However, Haki now describes himself as “The Ultimate Entrepreneur, Teacher, Multiple Income Stream Wealth Building Machine and for the Harambee family a Truth Terrorists, Knowledge Gangster and History Hitman.

Haki was highly influenced by the MATAH Network, UNIA, NOI, Ankobea, Reality Speaks of Solvivaz, Black Think Tank; Bring back Black Movement, the limited Black “Progressive” Democratic groups. He is now poised to drop his brand of leadership to Harambee and the Black World. Haki is available for speaking engagements and can dialogue on various topics, such as Business, Wealth, Black History, Council on Foreign Relations, Bilderbergs, Trilateral Commission, the Federal Reserve, White Nationalism, Nazi and Neo Nazism, Committee of 300, Illuminati, Skull and Bones, Taxes, the Tax system, Democratic and Republican Parties, Prison Industrial Complex, Disaster Relief to include Emergency Preparedness and First Aid.

Haki has collectively read over 1,200 books on various topics, and has been published in local newspapers. He has co-hosted a radio program, raised thousands of dollars for various causes and organizations. He was instrumental in the initial phases of development for The Economic Empowerment Coalition of Empowerment Temple A.M.E. Church in Baltimore , MD. Haki currently has several economic empowerment Campaigns going: Listen for his ads on 1010 A.M. WOLB in Baltimore , MD as well as see his Ads in the Maryland Minority Business Directory, National Black Yellow Pages. In 2008 Haki is poised to announce his Candidacy for the “President of Black America”.

Amidst all of Haki’s social reform and activism he manages to maintain a close bond and commitment to marriage with his Co-Host in Charge Afua Serwaa “LaRhonda Owens” a.k.a. The First Queen of the African Race.

Haki looks forward to sharing his knowledge with the Harambee Family.

Afua Serwaa Owens was born in Inglewood, California and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. She at a young age excelled in various areas of study. She was an Honor Student throughout her 20 years of educational studies. Afua Serwaa graduated high school at 16 years old with a "3.87 GPA. Afua Serwaa was reared by her parents to serve the community as noted by her participation in various capacities; band member, Captain of the Drill team, Cadet Major in J.R.O.T.C and member of the Varsity basketball team. After High School she attended Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, and received her Bachelors Degree in English Pre-law. While attending Tougaloo College she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated with intentions of continuing her service towards community and nation. Afua Serwaa graduated with honors, served as Ms. R.O.T.C. and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. Public Service was embedded in Afua Serwaa at an early age. Her father was a Minister, Attorney, and Judge and her mother is a Licensed Social Worker. With a love for the Community she followed in her parent's footsteps by serving as a legal intern and community activist with a non-profit organization, focused on disadvantaged youth.

In 1993, she moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Law School at the University of the District of Columbia David Clarke School of Law. While in Law School she completed more than 1200 hours of community service through free legal representation of district residents.

During law school she also served as a jegna and liaison for the District of Columbia Time Dollars Youth Court, an organization that focused on redirecting youth by holding them accountable for their actions. Graduating in 1997 she began her career in the corporate world of Telecommunications Law with an emphasis in Federal Communications Commission Regulations ("FCC"). After serving several years in this capacity the desire for community service overshadowed her career in corporate America. She heard the call of her ancestors and Afua Serwaa knew it was time to return to the Community. She began working for the D.C. Child and Family Services Agency (child protective services). After realizing that so many children were suffering the affects of disenfranchised parents and inferior education she wanted to make a greater impact. After five years of service she left for the public school system. District of Columbia Public Schools "DCPS" was her first stop in education. Having completed 700 hours of pro bono representation in the educational law clinic, Afua Serwaa looked forward to making a difference in the infrastructure of the public school system. As a Compliance Officer for the Special Education Department, Afua Serwaa set out to ensure children with disabilities got the educational start they needed. While in DCPS, Afua Serwaa was responsible for more than six low performing schools in Southeast D.C. Under her caring eye the achievement scores of students with disabilities began to increase. Afua Serwaa demonstrated a keen command of the regulations and laws governing the needs of students with disabilities. Over a two year period several schools that were categorized as "In need of improvement" made substantial progress toward timely correction of identified noncompliance.

Her accomplishments in DCPS facilitated her move to Prince Georges County Public Schools "PGCPS". In 2006, Afua Serwaa was approved by the Board of Education as the Director of Special Education Compliance. A daunting task since PGCPS had been in corrective action status with the Maryland State Department of Education for two years. In this capacity she administers a one million dollar budget, and manages 202 public schools special education programs. She is also responsible for technical assistance to the 80 nonpublic schools that service Prince George's county students. While serving in this capacity she recognized the need to be active in the community to ensure parental participation in the education process. Afua Serwaa is currently an adjunct professor at Trinity University in D.C. where she teaches Education Law and Legal Aspects of Special Education.

Afua realized that the youth and their parents needed more options and creative solutions. Thus she started the Transformation Network, LLC ("TNLLC") which provides a wide network of cultural educational advocacy and consulting, financial literacy, marketing, tutoring and Jegna services. She believes that the time is now to make a change in the lives of our youth. While maintaining a fulltime position with the Board of Education and her consulting company, she serves as the Vice President of the Hampton's Community Association of Brandywine, MD. In her community, Afua has been responsible for establishing several community outreach programs to include the Hampton's Community Family Fun day, Kwanzaa Celebrations at the Surratt's-Clinton Library and hosted several community forums to include renowned authors Kwame Agyei and Akua Nson Akoto, Mwalimu Bomani Baruti, and Dr. Uhuru Hotep.

Afua Serwaa is clear on being prepared for the revolution so she started the Brandywine Community Emergency Response Team "CERT" and is an active member of the Countywide and Clinton-Marlboro CERT organizations. CERT members operate under the authority of the Prince Georges County Department of Homeland Security. Afua Serwaa continues to serve her community by acting as liaison to the Danville-Floral Park Civic Association and the District 5 Police Citizens Advisory Committee.

Amidst all her professional endeavors, Afua was cognizant to listen to the steady voice of her ancestors directing her every move, and leading her to a lifetime commitment of service to the African community. Afua Serwaa completed the Ntete Ye Amane process to become a Traditional African Priest in the Akan traditions of Ghana, West Africa.

Afua Serwaa is affectionately known as the "First Queen" by her devoted co-host and mate, Haki Shakur Ammi. We look forward to continued growth and development with the Harambee Family.
